Emotionally Laden

There is this charming little film called Simply Irresistible with Sara Michelle Gellar and Patrick Sean Flannery. In this film Gellar is an awful chef, until a twist of fate from a divine intervention suddenly transforms all her dishes into mouth watering delicacies. The catch however is that whatever she happens to be feeling at the time when she is creating the dish becomes the main ingredient and the dinnie experiences her emotions with every bite. She is entrancing people with her emotionally laden food especially after she falls hopelessly in love, and this delectable ingredient is as addictive as of the most enticing of deserts.
I showed clips of this film to my intro. foods students to explore the relationship between food and emotions. It occurred to me during this lesson that nothing else stimulates the human like food. By this I mean that it stimulates the eye, the mouth, the nose, the ear, and our touch. With so much sensory stimulation is it any wonder that we formulate emotional attachments to food. The best chef would be the inherently passionate person, because their emotions can not help but spill into anything they do thus adding to the ultimate sensory experience.

Hey Mish! Sounds like you are liking your new spot in life!

I like this post. It is amazing to think about how you affect other people--we all do that. We pour out our emotions into our beings and depending on how much we allow, we may actually begin to feel exactly what the other people are feeling.

I've been thinking about this topic a lot lately--but had never thought to make the food connection---but I completely agree with it!

Thanks V. ~

I really love my new school. I feel very blessed to be there.
The reality is that food had to be so stimulating. Just in case in the evolutionary process you were say born deficient a sense you could still find nourishment.
That is one theory. It fits, but its probably not the compete picture or story.
Love Always,
