Intro: Ask how many of you went to Homecoming? Ask one or two to talk about what they did to prepare for the BIG Night…….Ask them if they belong to a club or sports team, or how Hannah prepared for Sergeant Peppers Choir event? How do they get ready every morning for school?
Ask the Students what they know about the Nazirite Vow?
Read Numbers 6: 1-8
“The Lord said to Moses. Speak to the Israelites and say to them: If a man or woman wants to make a special vow a vow of separation to the Lord as a Nazirite, he must abstain from wine and other fermented drink and must not drink vinegar made from wine or from other fermented drink. He must not drink grape juice or eat grapes or raisins. As long as he / she is he is a Nazirite, he must not eat anything that comes from the grapevine, not even the seeds or skins. During the entire period of his vow of separation no razor may be used on his head. He must be holy until the period of separation to the Lord is over; he must let the hair of his head grow long. Throughout the period of his separation to the Lord he must not nor near a dead body. Even if his own father or mother or brother or sister dies, he must not make himself ceremonially unclean on account of them, because the symbol of his separation to God is on his head. Throughout the period of his separation he is consecrated to the Lord.
What are the things God asks of a person that is going to undergo Nazirite Vows?
Why would God make such demands in this vow?
How do you prepare personally for any service or ways in which you would like to be used as God’s instrument?
Read the Story of Samson Birth Judges 13: 3-7
The angle of the Lord appeared to her and said “ you are sterile and childless, but you are going to conceive and have a son. Now see to it that you drink now wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean, because you will conceive and give birth to a son. Now see to it that you drink no wine or other fermented drink and that you do not eat anything unclean, because you will conceive and give birth to a son. No razor may be used on his head, because the boy is to be a Nazirite, set apart to God from birth, and eh will begin the deliverance of Isreal from the hands of the Philistines. Then the woman went to her husband and told him, “ A man of God came to me. He looked like an Angel of God, very awesome. I didn’t ask him where he came from, and he didn’t tell me his name. But he said to me , You will conceive and give birth to a son. Now then drink no win or other fermented drink, and do not eat anything unclean, because the boy will be a Nazirite of God from birth until the day of his death.”
I then told the story of Samson forensics style.
Did Samuel obey the Nazirite Vow?
How did God choose to use him in light of his sacrifices and obedience?
Can you think of a time God specifically used you for a purpose or instance?
(Tell story of church planter / apologetic met his wife)
New Testament Nazarite:

Luke 1: 8-15
Once when Zechariah’s was on duty and he was serving as priest before God, he was chosen by lot, according to the custom of the priesthood to go in to the temple of the Lord and burn incense. And when the time for the burning of incense came, all the assembled worshipers were praying outside. Then and angel of the Lord appeared to him, standing at the right side of the alter of incense. When Zechariah saw him, he was startled and was gripped with fear. Bu the angel said to him: “Do not be afraid, Zechariah your prayer has been heard. Your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son and you are to give him the name John. He will be a joy and delight to you and many will rejoice because of his birth, for he will be great in the sight of the Lord. He is never to take wine or other fermented drink, and he will be filled with the Holy Spirit even from birth.
Mark 1: 4-6
And so John came baptizing in the desert region and preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins. The whole Judean countryside and all the people of Jerusalem went out to him. Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. John wore clothing made of camel’s hair, with a leather belt around his waist, and he ate locusts and wild honey.
